Founder and head trainer at High Plains K-9 Connections, Megan started her journey with dogs in her childhood. Megan has lived in Windsor Colorado for 21 years she met her husband John in high School and they now have two wonderful boys Luke and Logan along with 4 Labrador retrievers & a sweet Boarder Collie named Bailey, Mabel, Seger, Moose & Autumn. We as a family love dogs and enjoy spending most our time outdoors. We are avid outdoorsmen and any chance we get we are spending time with our friends and family Hunting, camping, fishing, and playing baseball.
During that time Megan knew she loved working with dogs and people therefore, she wanted to continue her training and knowledge about dogs, and how to help dog and handlers communicate better.
Megan Spent 4 years apprenticing owner and head trainers at Progressive School for dogs learning how to communicate and teach others how to train their dogs.
In 2010 Megan became certified as an AKC Evaluator and has been teaching and testing dogs from 2010 to present.
There she teaches STAR Puppy programs, Certifies Canine Good Citizens and is now offering new courses like Community and Urban CGC testing. She feels that a good trainer never stops learning and evolving their techniques to better help dogs and their humans.
We have started offering family trick classes and trick titling to keep the training fun. Where everyone wants to keep learning and offering simple everyday tricks, like bring me the newspaper, or fun show off tricks like roll over, sit pretty and more. Megan completed this certification June of 2020.
Megan is always striving for new ways to better handle and communicate with dogs and humans. Throughout the year she attends multiple seminars and workshops to evolve her training style and many techniques.
